May 27 date for SPM results stays, says Education Minister

PETALING JAYA: The 2023 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) results will be released on May 27 as scheduled, says Fadhlina Sidek (pic).

The Education Minister addressed concerns regarding the date amidst numerous requests to change it to avoid coinciding with school holidays.

"The ministry shares the same perspective and aligns with the welfare and well-being of teachers and has considered the best decision for all parties after listening to various opinions on this issue.

"The ministry stands firm on the stipulated date, emphasizing the importance of a meticulous process for results issuance and the broader educational timeline for students' progression to higher education," she said on Facebook on Friday (May 10).

Fahdlina said sufficient time was needed to process the results thoroughly and accurately.

"This scheduling also considers other factors such as the application dates and updates for the University Central Unit (UPU) and other related matters for the admission of SPM leavers to higher education levels," she said during the launch of the 'Highly Immersive' Carnival 2024 at SMK Saujana Indah, Seberang Perai," she said.

She said that schools have been given ample time to plan and coordinate the management and administrative mechanisms related to the issuance of the SPM 2023 exam results.

"Therefore, the release of the SPM 2023 results will not affect the holiday plans and travel arrangements that teachers have made earlier," she said.

Fadhlina added that the results would be also accessible online (myresultspm.moe.gov.my) or through the SMS messaging system.

"The ministry will also immediately consult all the state education departments to ensure the smooth release of the SPM results and, at the same time, the welfare of all teachers," she said.
