JB cops seek bus driver for quarrelling with female passenger


JOHOR BARU: Police are on the lookout for a male bus driver to help with an investigation involving a quarrel between the man and a female passenger that occurred in the city centre, here.

Johor Baru South OCPD Asst Comm Raub Selamat said that the incident that went viral on TikTok occurred last Thursday (May 2) at 9.10am.

“The video showed a public bus driver quarrelling with a female passenger; the woman lodged a police report later on the same day.

“The 31-year-old victim claimed that the driver was angry at her for not paying the bus fare on her previous ride.

“The victim did not suffer any injury, and we are currently conducting an investigation to search for the male suspect involved,” he said in a statement here on Monday (May 6).

The case is being investigated under Section 352 of the Penal Code for using criminal force on a person and Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955 for insulting behaviour.

Earlier, a 50-sec video was uploaded on TikTok by the user @bouquetsurprisedelivery, showing a male bus driver berating a woman, before jumping out of his seat and forcing the woman to get off the bus.

At the time of writing, the video had gained more than 600,000 views.
