Sabah police reviewing contents of mobile phone in Lahad Datu police chief's daughter's death investigation

KOTA KINABALU: The police forensics unit is reviewing the contents of the mobile phone belonging to the Lahad Datu police chief’s daughter, who died from a gunshot from the pistol belonging to her father

Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Jauteh Dikun said the police are still investigating the case.

“We need to know the content inside the phone,” he said at the city police headquarters here on Tuesday (April 30).

Comm Jauteh had said that the Lahad Datu district police chief, Asst Comm Dzulbaharin Ismail, was being investigated for negligence over the accidental death of his 14-year-old daughter, says Sabah police commissioner Datuk Jauteh Jikun.

On April 16, the daughter of Lahad Datu police chief ACP Dzulbaharin was found dead at their home in Taman Tabanak.

She is believed to have died from a single gunshot wound fired from her father’s service pistol.

Initial investigations indicated that the pistol was secured in a locked cupboard in the house.
