Former Maidam member, wife claim trial to abuse of power, false claims charges


KUALA TERENGGANU: A former Terengganu Islamic Religion and Malay Customs Council (Maidam) member and his wife pleaded not guilty in the Sessions Court here on Monday (April 22) to abuse of power and submitting false claims related to the distribution of zakat worth almost RM20,000, from 2019 to 2021.

Datuk Mohamad Zahari Harun, 64, and his wife, Lydia Irmawati Mahmud, 41, entered their pleas after the charges were read out separately to them before Judge Mohd Azhar Othman.
