Saifuddin applauds cops for swift arrest of KLIA 1 shooter

PETALING JAYA: The swift arrest of the suspect who opened fire at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport 1 has been lauded by Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution (pic).

"Congratulations to the police for the prompt arrest of the KLIA shooting suspect," said the Home Minister in a Facebook post.

The police had previously identified the 38-year-old suspect as Hafizul Harawi.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain had earlier confirmed the arrest.

"The suspect was caught in Kota Baru, Kelantan at 3pm today," he said on Monday (April 15).

On Sunday (April 14) morning, a man shot at his wife at the KLIA 1 arrival hall.

The intended target, travel agency owner Farah Md Isa, better known as Farah Cie, was waiting at the arrival hall for her clients to return from umrah.

The suspect set off some firecrackers before opening fire at the victim at close range.

Her bodyguard managed to save her but was shot in the stomach. Hafizul then escaped to his car, parked at Block C of the airport car park.
