Teaching route for STPM candidates

KUALA LUMPUR: The Education Ministry will extend the intake of candidates for the Bachelor of Teaching Degree Programme to include STPM, Sijil Tinggi Agama Malaysia and matriculation programme graduates this year.

In a statement yesterday, the ministry announced that the initiative will provide opportunities to more candidates interested in becoming teachers to apply for admission to the programme.

It said the objective was to ensure the best candidates were selected for the programme.

“This initiative demonstrates the MOE’s continuous commitment in addressing the shortage of teachers while ensuring the selection of the best candidates who can contribute to the national education reform agenda,” the ministry added.

It said selected candidates would undergo training at the Institute of Teacher Education Malaysia in various specialised fields in a four-year course.
