Socks issue: Melaka exco among 14 people to lodge police report


MELAKA: A Melaka Exco member and CEO of a company are among 14 individuals from the state to lodge police reports over the controversy involving socks sold at convenience store chain KK Super Mart.

Melaka police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Zainol Samah said the 16 reports were lodged in various police stations in the state.

"All these reports were being investigated by Bukit Aman," he said on Friday (March 22).

The management of the store, during a press conference on Saturday (March 16) had apologised for its oversight in selling socks.

The vendor of the socks had also made a public apology, saying the goods were sold on a consignment basis and the company did not have any intention of disrupting public harmony.

In a separate development, DCP Zainol said a viral video of an incident where a 30-year-old soldier was seen manhandling his wife had happened last December.

He said the army personnel from Terendak Camp in Sungai Udang here was also in the process of divorcing his 25-year-old wife.

He said an investigation paper has been opened under Section 18A of the Domestic Violence Act 1994 and Section 323 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt.

The video resurfaced on Friday (March 22).
