Cops nab man for alleged insult on socks issue


PETALING JAYA: Police have arrested a man after he allegedly belittled religious sensitivities over the sock issue involving KK Super Mart.

Bukit Aman CID director Comm Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain, in a statement on Thursday (March 21), said the arrest was made on the 35-year-old Facebook user on Wednesday (March 20).

"The police confirm the arrest of the local man over investigations into a posting regarding the sale of socks with the word Allah in a KK Super Mart that insulted Islam," he said.

He added that the suspect had been remanded until March 24.

The police advise the public to be responsible social media users and avoid posting statements that could affect public harmony and peace, especially in issues relating to 3R (ruler, religion, race).
