Bomba medevacs Orang Asli infant to Gua Musang Hospital


GUA MUSANG: The Malaysian Fire and Rescue Departmen'st Air Unit conducted a medical evacuation (medevac) operation to transport an Orang Asli infant from Pos Bihai to Gua Musang Hospital for treatment on Thursday (March 14).

Subang Central Region Fire and Rescue Department public relations officer Asst Fire Supt Mohd Rizzan Jefri said the patient, four-month-old Rayyan March, who had been experiencing high fever, cough and cold for the past three days, was accompanied by his mother, Lisa Awis, 32, aboard a Mi-171 aircraft.

"The aircraft departed from Subang at 1.20pm and arrived at the Gua Musang Fire and Rescue station at 2.35pm to pick up two nurses and respiratory aid equipment before proceeding to Kampung Tendrik, Pos Bihai, at 2.45pm.

"Upon arrival at the village, oxygen support was administered to the patient due to his weakened condition and rapid breathing,” he said in a statement Friday (March 15).

Mohd Rizzan said the flight operation from the village to the Gua Musang Fire and Rescue station took 40 minutes, following which the patient was transferred to the hospital via ambulance.

The operation, which involved nine crew members, concluded at 5.20pm. - Bernama
