Two rescued, one still missing in suspected drowning at Pantai Tanjong Buloh


KOTA TINGGI: One child is missing while two others were rescued following a drowning incident at Pantai Tanjong Buloh in Sedili Kecil here.

A Johor Fire and Rescue Department spokesman said they are conducting surface search operations in the area where the victim is believed to have drowned.

Upon arrival, firefighters confirmed that three victims were involved in the incident.

“An 11-year-old boy was rescued safely, while a 16-year-old teenager was found and handed over to Health Ministry personnel for further treatment.

“However, another 11-year-old boy has yet to be located,” the spokesman added.

He said firefighters received a distress call at 1.17pm on Monday (Feb 17).

“A team from the Penawar Fire and Rescue Station, with assistance from the Kota Tinggi station, was dispatched to the scene, located about 17km away, and arrived at 1.35pm.

“A total of 16 personnel were involved in the operation, assisted by two Fire Rescue Tenders (FRT) and one Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) vehicle,” the spokesman said.

The department said the operation is ongoing and further updates will be provided from time to time.
