A MAN who has been consuming raw gallbladder from snakes for 15 years was diagnosed with parasites in his spine, China Press reported.
His condition was so serious that the 55-year-old from China’s Guangdong province was left wheelchair-bound.
He also requires a catheter to urinate.
Identified only as Guo, the man prior to this was a passionate believer of traditional remedies such as snake gallbladder and snake wine.He took the said “remedies” for his stomach ulcers.
However, the side effects only surfaced in 2022 when he started feeling dizzy and had trouble walking.
A medical checkup revealed that his spine was infested with parasites known as spinometra, which are found in snakes, frogs, dogs and cats.According to Guo’s doctor, some of the parasites measured up to 6cm.
“Frog meat, snake gallbladder, snake blood and snake meat are known to contain parasitic organisms. Avoid eating them,” a doctor warned.
> The daily also reported that a man from Henan province in China lost over 90,000 yuan (RM58,703) in an online love scam in which his supposed lover turned out to be a cross-dresser.
The man, known only as Xiao Zhu, got to know the lover through an online game in 2022.
“She told me her parents had died and she was forced to become a mistress of a rich man who constantly abused her,” he said, adding the lover also asked him for money.
Last month, Xiao Zhu inadvertently found out that his lover is actually a man.
Realising that he had fallen victim to a love scam, he lodged a police report.
The lover, who was found to be a serial scammer, was subsequently arrested.
