Perak authorities find fish bombing site inside forest reserve

IPOH: The area inside the Temenggor Forest Reserve in Hulu Perak where illegal fish bombing had taken place has been identified by authorities.

Gerik OCPD Supt Zulkifli Mahmood said the operation jointly organised with the forest rangers was carried out on March 11, at 3pm.

He said police had come across a video on social media on the fish bombing in Hulu Perak.

"The police and the rangers entered the site, and found the place to be the same one as shown in the video.

"The location is at the meeting point of the Kuala Sungai Mangga and Sungai Senga in the forest reserve, where the fish bombing activities occurred," he said in a statement on Wednesday (March 13).

Supt Zulkifli said advised the public against entering the forest reserve without permits from the Forestry Department.

He said it was against the National Forestry Act 1984 and the Fisheries Act 1992, to carry out illegal activities in gazetted forest reserves.

"Anyone with information on the incident can contact the Gerik District police headquarters at 05 791 2222," he said.
