MCA looks to revitalise party with phone app

KUALA LUMPUR: MCA will develop its own smartphone app to streamline and modernise its operations, says party president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.

“To simplify the application process, the leadership has instructed the party’s organising department to do research to introduce an MCA app as a way to join the party,” he said.

During the transition phase before the app’s launch, he said the party will accept video selfies as a form of identification during the membership application process.

Meanwhile, Dr Wee urged MCA Youth and Wanita MCA to mobilise their members actively, because the party needs to bring in more new blood to “promote regeneration at all levels.”

In his speech, MCA secretary-general Datuk Chong Sin Woon suggested that as a monoracial party, MCA should leverage traditional Chinese wisdom to lead the entire community in civilised dialogue.

He proposed engaging in sincere discourse with fellow Malaysians of all ethnicities, and initiating a higher level of inter-ethnic cooperation.

Chong said rebuilding inter-ethnic relations, consolidating the nation’s founding consensus among all people, and establishing a contemporary national spirit, are the mission of MCA.
