ACTOR Meerqeen is adamant in rejecting any acting offer that will require him to do “soft porn” scenes as he wants to protect the good image of Islam and his family, reported Kosmo!

Meerqeen – whose real name is Muhammad Shameer Shauqeen Shaiful Izam – said he did not want to embarrass his family, especially since they would watch all his shows.

“The best decision for me is to reject such offers. It ultimately depends on the individual and his or her principles.

“As actors, we have the right to decline any offer if we feel uncomfortable acting in a soft porn scene,” said the 23-year-old.

Recently, the local film industry has come under criticism for including soft porn scenes, with the latest being the romantic comedy La Luna, about a lingerie store owner in a village.

Meerqeen, who has appeared in Melur Untuk Firdaus, said he believes that a Muslim actor should behave in accordance with Islamic values.

“There is no such thing as following instructions blindly. Besides, these days, all soft porn scenes are done using various techniques and angles without having to actually do it,” he said.

> Berita Harian reported that due to the lack of financial resources, a family of six in Johor Baru ran out of food several days ago and had to resort to asking their neighbours for rice.

Housewife Suhana Zainal, 29, said her husband Mohd Romzan Ramli, 44, makes around RM1,000 a month as a contract worker.

Besides that, the couple’s five-year-old daughter Nur Alisha Umairah is undergoing chemotherapy for leukaemia.

“Each chemotherapy session costs us RM200, including transportation expenses. Nur Alisha requires a special type of milk as per the doctor’s recommendation. With 10 cycles of chemotherapy sessions scheduled, the hospital has become our second home,” Suhana said.

Her eldest daughter Nur Alia Qaisara has stopped going to school due to the family’s financial situation.

The couple have four children.

“At the moment, we are not even making any preparations for Ramadan because our priority is Nur Alisha and her health,” she said adding that her husband was trying his best to find a permanent job.
