PETALING JAYA: Police have captured a detainee who fled custody from Sungai Buloh Prison earlier this month.
Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Shazeli Kahar said police rearrested the suspect, who escaped on April 9, at about 5pm on Saturday (April 18) along Jalan Batu 14, Jalan Gombak Lama, Selangor.

"The Selangor police contingent confirms that the escaped inmate has been successfully recaptured.
"We also record our appreciation to all parties who assisted in ensuring the arrest, in order to maintain public safety and order," he said in a statement on Sunday (April 19).
Police had launched a manhunt for a 24-year-old Pakistani detainee, identified as Muhammad Hassan, after his escape.

Sungai Buloh OCPD Supt Mohd Hafiz Muhammad Nor had said police received a report on the incident and immediately mounted an operation to track him down.
The detainee was facing several charges, including under Section 377C of the Penal Code for sodomy, Section 392 for robbery, as well as immigration-related offences.
