Over 50 Ramadan and nine Aidilfitri bazaars to be held in Melaka, says exco

MELAKA: A total of 51 Ramadan and nine Aidilfitri bazaars will be available in the state throughout the Holy Month up to the Hari Raya festive season.

Melaka Housing, local government, drainage, climate change and disaster management committee deputy chairman Datuk Zulkiflee Mohd Zin said Melaka Historic City Council (MBMB) would host 23 Ramadan bazaars and five Aidilfitri bazaars.

He said that there would also be 10 Ramadan and two Aidilfitri bazaars in the Alor Gajah Municipal Council (MPAG) area and Hang Tuah Jaya Municipal Council (MPHTJ) respectively and eight Ramadan bazaars in areas under the Jasin Municipal Council (MPJ).

"There will be three Mega Ramadan and four Rahmah Ramadan Bazaars (BBR) throughout the state during the Holy Month," he said after distributing 'bubur lambuk' to motorists at the Melaka Mall in Ayer Keroh on Thursday (March 7).

The event was also attended by MPHTJ president Datin Sapiah Haron and assistant executive manager of Ames Hotel of Ayer Keroh, Nurashiken Zainal.

Zulkiflee said the BBR bazzars would be unveiled at Taman Cempaka, Masjid Tanah, Jasin Bestari and Masjid Al-Alami, Ayer Keroh.

He said BBR would be offered to 50 traders where they should sell food items under Menu Rahmah below or at RM5.

"All BBR throughout the state must offer Menu Rahmah and we are giving incentive to the traders to promote the menu.

"Rental fees for stalls at Ramadan and Aidilfitri bazaars will also be ‘quite cheap’ in a bid to encourage the traders to sell their items at affordable prices," he said.

Zulkiflee added that the cleanliness of these bazaars would be monitored by the state Health Department and pricing by state Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) officers.
