JOHOR BARU: Three people were killed while two others were injured in a four-vehicle accident at KM18.8 of the Pasir Gudang highway.
Johor Baru South OCPD Asst Comm Raub Selamat said the accident involving a trailer and three cars occurred at 2.21am on Wednesday (March 6).
“The incident was believed to have happened when the trailer, which was carrying containers, skidded on its way to Pasir Gudang from Tanjung Pelepas.
“The vehicle then went over the road divider and entered the opposite lane, where it landed horizontally in the middle of the road.
“This led to the collision with the three cars that were coming from Pasir Gudang,” he said in a statement.
He said the drivers of two of the cars and a passenger died at the scene after succumbing to injuries.
“The driver of the lorry and the third car suffered serious injuries and have been sent to Hospital Sultan Ismail for treatment,” he said, adding that the victims are between 30 and 70 years old.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act.
