Two nabbed for posing as Immigration to rob victims


IPOH: Two men, who impersonated Immigration officers to rob victims, have been arrested, says Perak OCPD Comm Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri.

He said the two, aged 25 and 26, were arrested on Tuesday (Feb 27) at 4.30am in Ipoh and Gerik.

“Police received five reports on the robberies that were carried out at the city centre between Feb 23 and Feb 26 with a total loss of RM6,000,” he said in a statement on Wednesday (Feb 28).

Comm Mohd Yusri said police also confiscated several items, including a vehicle used by the suspects.

He said the 25-year-old man had two criminal and four drug-related offences on his record.

“The 26-year-old had two previous drug related offences.

“The urine test of both the suspects came out positive for Methamphetamine,” he said.

He added both the suspects have been remanded until Friday (March 1).

“With the arrest of the two, police have solved at least five robbery cases, he added.
