Bomba helicopter rushes donor heart from Melaka to KL for early-morning transplant

PETALING JAYA: A Fire and Rescue Department helicopter rushed a donor heart from Melaka to Kuala Lumpur on Sunday (Feb 25).

In a statement, the Fire and Rescue Department air operations chief Capt Roslan Aziz said that the operation was conducted after a case was referred to the Melaka hospital.

"The family of a patient declared brain dead graciously consented to the donation of the patient's heart to another that needed it," he said.

The helicopter landed at Hospital Kuala Lumpur hospital at 8.35am and was joined by three medical officers.

"Organ transportation operations are critical missions that require meticulous planning to adhere to the strict time frame set by the medical team. This is to ensure the donated organ can be transplanted into the patient as soon as it reaches the hospital," he said.
