PETALING JAYA: Heartfelt congratulations to the newly sworn-in Yang di-Pertuan Agong were sent by the Council of Churches of Malaysia (CCM).

"CCM extends its heartiest congratulations and felicitations to His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, and Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah, Queen of Malaysia, on the occasion of His Majesty's ascension to the throne as the 17th Yang di-Pertuan Agong of Malaysia," it said in a statement Friday (Feb 2).

"May God shower his richest blessings upon Their Majesties and endow them with good health, wisdom and compassion in their reign," said the statement, signed by CCM president Very Rev Philip Thomas Cor Episcopa and deputy president Bishop T. Jeyakumar.

The churches in the council will uphold Their Majesties’ well-being in their prayers, the press statement added.

"We hope that Their Majesties will continue to unite the people from the various races and religions so that everyone can live in peace and prosperity in our beloved country," it added.
