Britain’s King Charles congratulates His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia


PETALING JAYA: Britain's King Charles has congratulated the newly crowned His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, for his successful accession as the 17th Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

The British High Commission in Kuala Lumpur's official X account on Wednesday (Feb 1) shared a congratulatory message from the 75-year-old British head of state and his wife, wishing His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, their best wishes as the latter begins his reign.

His Majesty King Charles wrote that he desires to maintain close ties between the two nations and the royal families and work with His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, on solving global issues.

"I hope we can continue to work together to tackle climate change and improve environmental sustainability.

"This is an important issue that will impact all our lives for years to come," he said.

He then reminisced about his fond visits to Malaysia and looked forward to future opportunities to celebrate the close connections that both countries and royal families share.

His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, began his five-year term as the new King of Malaysia after being sworn in at a ceremony at Istana Negara on Wednesday (Jan 31).
