SIBU: The actions of criminal gangs that disrupt the peace and safety here will not be tolerated, says Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing.
The Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister said the street shooting here on Jan 1 had affected the people, who felt their personal safety was not guaranteed.
"I would like to warn the gangs, especially those who influence them using unwholesome means to achieve their goals," the Bintulu MP and Dudong assemblyman said on Saturday (Jan 27).

"I have instructed the Sibu police chief and other law enforcement agencies to crack down on such crimes and we will not tolerate (these acts).
"We are determined to let the people of Sibu live a good life in peace and contentment," he said at the Progressive Democratic Party Chinese New Year dinner here.
In the incident, six men were drinking at a coffee shop in Jalan Wong King at 4.55pm when two men arrived on two motorcycles and opened fire with semi-automatic weapons.
One suspect shot at the group at close range, while the other fired at them from 20m away. They then sped off.
Three men, aged 27 to 33, sustained thigh, leg and hand injuries.

In response to the incident, Tiong urged police to take a zero-tolerance approach to such criminal acts.
"This episode has raised concerns about the possibility of the widespread availability of firearms in Sibu, leading to deep anxiety about personal safety," he said on Jan 4.
