KUALA LUMPUR: Desperately needing RM12,000, an IT executive ended up having to repay almost six times that amount to loan sharks – all within a period of about a month. It all started in early December when Yap Wai Fong sought to borrow the amount from four loan shark companies after seeing their advertisements on Facebook.
“My wife was very sick and at that time I was not in the right state of mind. The loan sharks promised that the procedures were transparent and I gave them my payslip and IC for verification,” said Yap.
