Man accidentally drives car into monsoon drain in Kudat


KOTA KINABALU: A man was hurt when he accidentally drove his car into a monsoon drain in the Kudat district.

Abdul Amir Lakipou, 42, drove along Jalan Tambalang before the 11.20am mishap on Thursday (Jan 18).

Sabah Fire and Rescue Department assistant director of operations Hamsa Isnurdini said passersby rescued the man before firemen arrived.

“We received a call about this accident at around 11.25am, and the victim was already brought out of the vehicle when we arrived,” he said in a statement.

He said the man was given preliminary medical aid before he was sent to the hospital for further treatment.

Operations ceased at 12.05pm and no other casualties were reported in this incident, Hamsa added.
