SOME 50 Hindu residents from Seksyen 19, Petaling Jaya gathered at the Sri Maha Mariamman temple site to demand answers about its delayed construction, Makkal Osai reported.

MJ Vijay, who spoke on behalf of the residents, said that about 14 years ago, the existing small temple was demolished by the then committee to make way for a new building.

Since then, the committee has held three fundraising dinners and sought donations, all of which allegedly raised significant sums.

Those in the committee refused to answer for the funds, Vijay was quoted as saying.

It has been reported that there is a new action committee, but seemingly, none of the residents were approached for their views.

> The daily also reported that Tamil Nadu authorities are planning to deploy hundreds of drones and 16,000 policemen throughout Chennai for the upcoming Kaanum Pongal festival.

A total of 4,000 policemen will be deployed at the famous Marina Beach to ensure public safety.
