KOTA KINABALU: Nine days into the new year, Sandakan ratepayers are still unsure if the government will proceed with the controversial increase in the municipality's assessment rates.
Some politicians and community leaders in this Sabah east coast town have claimed that the rates would not be increased this year, and the Sandakan Municipal Council has yet to indicate if a hike is imminent.
