A tale of two Padus: Johor's system is for entrepreneurs, distinct from national database, says Johor exco member

JOHOR BARU: The Johor Entrepreneurs Data Centre (Padu) and the newly launched Central Database Hub (Padu) are totally different systems, says Mohd Hairi Mad Shah (pic).

The state youth, sports, entrepreneur development, cooperatives and human resources committee chairman said Johor Padu was officially launched on Jan 1, 2022.

"It is a state government initiative for local entrepreneurs to register under Johor Padu, which is operated by Perbadanan Usahawan Johor Sdn Bhd (PUJB).

"It seems there is some confusion as the two systems have similar names," he said.

Mohd Hairi, who is also Larkin assemblyman, said this when met after accompanying Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi who officiated the opening of a local fast food restaurant here on Wednesday (Jan 3).

He added that Johor's Padu system was meant for local entrepreneurs while the national-level system is to aid the economy.

"At state level, Johor Padu is more to help entrepreneurs get information and aid from the state government such as financial assistance.

"We have more than 40,000 entrepreneurs registered under Johor Padu with about RM129mil in allocations channelled since we launched the system," he said.
