Hamdan sedated, members of Senario ask fans to pray for his recovery

JOHOR BAHRU: Members of a comedian group, Senario, have requested their fans to pray for the recovery of their colleague, Hamdan Ramli who is hospitalised and sedated at the Sultanah Aminah Hospital (HSA) here due to suspected kidney complications.

Azlee Jaafar said Hamdan, whose real name was Ahmad Hamdan Mohamed Ramli, 54, had never told him or any of the members about his disease.

"We had a showcase in Johor Bharu, a charity event to help ailing veteran artistes such as Zaleha Hamid and Mat Sentul. Hamdan arrived on Saturday (Dec 30), and he seemed healthy and cheerful, but yesterday, his family members told us he was ill.

"We advised him to skip the rehearsal and rest. At 5pm, his wife told us that he was admitted to the hospital and in critical condition," he told reporters at HSA, here on Monday (Jan 1).

Other group members, namely Wahid, Saiful Apek, Yassin and Ilya Buang were also present to visit Hamdan.

Azlee, 54, said they had to proceed with the showcase titled 'Wonderful Tonight with Senariounion' held in conjunction with the New Year’s celebrations on Sunday (Dec 31) night, without Hamdan.

"This is a test, and all we can do is pray and hope that Malaysians, especially the fans, will pray for a miracle and that he will recover," he said, adding that Sunday was also Senario’s 27th anniversary.

Meanwhile, Hamdan’s wife Norhamalini Ahmed, 53, said he was excited to perform at the showcase even though he was unwell, adding that the whole family had to persuade him to visit the hospital due to his deteriorating health when he arrived here on Saturday.

"Hamdan also requested not to be sedated because he was adamant about performing at the show in conjunction with Senario’s 27th anniversary to meet with fans. We ask fans to pray for his recovery," she said.

According to their youngest daughter, Nur Natasya Umairah, 21, while they were on their way to Johor from Ipoh, Perak, Hamdan complained of feeling feverish and suffered diarrhoea before they managed to persuade him to go to the hospital.

"The initial examination showed that his blood pressure was stable, and he was placed in the Green Zone. However, further examinations revealed that his condition was critical and he needed to be sedated," she said. - Bernama
