Cops record Caprice’s statement over social media post on murder of 17-year-old student

KUALA LUMPUR: Police recorded a statement from rapper Caprice over his video clip related to the recent incident of a 17-year-old student who was killed after being hit by a vehicle driven by a senior police officer.

The rapper, whose real name is Ariz Ramli, turned up at the Dang Wangi police headquarters, here, at about 12.30pm on Friday (Dec 22), accompanied by film director Datuk Afdlin Shauki Aksan.

When met by reporters after giving his statement, Caprice said that the police had seized his two smartphones, a laptop, a camera and a memory card to assist in the investigation.

The video clip has since been deleted.

Meanwhile, a police source confirmed that the 35-year-old had given his statement.

Caprice has since apologised to the entire police force for his remark on social media claiming that it was only addressed to the suspect in the case.

“Cap (known as Caprice) would like to apologise to anyone from the police force who took to heart what I said.

“The words uttered on my social media were for the suspect and with that, we have to find ways to always look after, protect and uphold the police force,” he added on his Instastory according to mStar.

The rapper further said that he respected Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Razarudin Husain who prior to this emphasised the importance of integrity and the sovereignty of the law.

He also hopes that all Malaysians can join each other in fighting any form of injustice.
