Thirty foreign women detained in KL vice raids

KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 30 foreign women, believed to be prostitutes, were detained following raids on three prostitution dens in the city.

Dang Wangi OCPD Asst Comm Noor Dellhan Yahaya said the raids were conducted at Jalan Pasar Baru, Jalan Pudu and Jalan Imbi between 7.45pm and 11.40pm on Thursday (Dec 14).

"We detained 30 foreign women aged between 23 and 59 years old.

"We also seized 14 tissue rolls, 16 towels, three lubricant tubes, 16 wet tissue packets, 100 condoms, an access card, four bottles of lotion, and RM400 cash," he said in a statement Saturday (Dec 16).

The case is classified under Section 372B of the Penal Code for prostitution and Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act for entering and staying in the country without a valid visa, he said.

"Those detained have been remanded until Dec 18," he added.

ACP Noor Dellhan urged those with information on any criminal activities to contact the Dang Wangi police at 03-2600 2222 or any nearest police station.

"We need the cooperation of the public to relay relevant information on any crime," he said.
