Six nabbed for selling fake MCs


KUALA LUMPUR: Six people suspected of selling fake medical certificates (MCs) in Kajang were nabbed by police over two days last week.

Kajang OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Zaid Hassan said the four women and two men, aged between 26 and 51, were detained in Bukit Jalil and Kajang last Friday and Saturday.

He said preliminary investigations revealed they had been selling fake MCs since last year for between RM30 and RM50 each.

“The police also seized other items, including 171 government medical certificates, 70 private medical certificates, 19 official receipts from clinics, a laptop and eight mobile phones,” he said in a statement, reported Bernama.ACP Mohd Zaid said all the suspects were remanded until yesterday to assist investigations under Section 420 of the Penal Code.

He also urged those with any information, including employers, about the sale of fake MCs to contact the Kajang police hotline at 03-8911 4242.
