New health minister lined up, Zaliha possibly moving to revived FT ministry

PETALING JAYA: A new health minister is likely to be appointed in Tuesday's (Dec 12) Cabinet reshuffle, with Dr Zaliha Mustafa expected to move to a revived Federal Territories ministry.

Despite earlier speculation the current Health Minister may be dropped, it is said she may instead move to the FT ministry.

It is also understood that Dr Zaliha’s team has started preparing for the move.

Sources say former health minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad could make a comeback as health minister.

Another name bandied around for the health portfolio is Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek.

The much-speculated Cabinet reshuffle is expected to take place on Tuesday (Dec 12), more than a year after the formation of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s unity government.

According to Bernama, a swearing-in ceremony of federal ministers is scheduled to be held at Istana Negara at 2.30pm on Tuesday.

However, there has yet to be an official announcement from the Prime Minister’s Office.
