Man, 21, killed in car crash at Kota Iskandar Highway


ISKANDAR PUTERI: A 21-year-old man was killed after his car crashed into a tree at Kota Iskandar Highway.

Iskandar Puteri OCPD Asst Comm Rahmat Ariffin said the incident occurred at 4.55am on Saturday (Dec 9) near Masjid Kota Iskandar.

“Investigations revealed that the vehicle was from the Kota Iskandar Highway heading towards Medini and had crashed into the roundabout.

“The impact caused the vehicle to jump over the road divider and crash into the tree,” he said in a statement.

The victim's body was later brought to the Hospital Sultanah Aminah (HSA) for a post-mortem.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road and Transport Act of 1987.

Meanwhile, Iskandar Puteri Fire and Rescue Department operation commander Saifulizam Salleh said that the victim has been identified as Vincent Boo Yu Leng.

“The victim was pinned to the driver’s seat and was brought out using rescue tools.

“He was later pronounced dead at the location by the medical team before being handed over to the police for further action,” he said.
