Heavy rain caused flash floods in Kubang Pasu

ALOR SETAR: Heavy rain has caused flash floods at several places in Kubang Pasu here on Monday (Dec 4).

District Civil Defence Force officer Capt (PA) Mohd Adenin Suhaimi said Napoh and the Jitra–Changlun Highway were among the affected areas.

"The flooding happened after heavy rain began at about 6pm and caused several places to be inundated with water," he said in a statement on Monday (Dec 4).

Capt Mohd Adenin said when the rain stopped, the flooding subsided and cleared at about 8pm

He said Civil Defence Force personnel are monitoring the situation as it is still raining at the time of writing.

He said the flash floods were caused by blocked drainage in the area.

He said no temporary relief centres had been open so far.

"Although the situation is under control, the Civil Defence Force is on standby should anything happen," he said.
