Moderate earthquake hits Indonesia's Banda Sea


KUALA LUMPUR: A moderate earthquake measuring 5.8 on the Richter scale hit Indonesia's Banda Sea at 8.01pm on Saturday (Dec 2).

According to the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia), the earthquake with a depth of 113km occurred at a distance of 422km south-east of Ambon, Indonesia.

Based on the initial assessment, there is no tsunami threat to Malaysia. - Bernama
