Fire destroys school dormitory in Kota Belud


KOTA KINABALU: A school dormitory in Kota Belud on Friday (Dec 1) has been destroyed in a fire but no casualties were reported.

The Fire and Rescue Department said they received an emergency call at 6.15pm alerting them to the incident at the Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Kuala Abai hostel.

"A team was sent to the location and they brought the fire under control at 8.18pm," said a spokesman.

In a separate case in Kota Marudu district, a 37-year-old motorcyclist suffered serious injuries after his motorcycle crashed into a car.

The report came in at 7.43pm and firefighters rushed to the scene on Jalan Sabit, said the spokesman.

"The team rescued the motorcyclist who was stuck under the car," he said, adding that the victim was sent to a hospital in an ambulance.

"The operation ended at 8pm," said the spokesman.
