MELAKA: A couple discovered the body of two-year-old Muhammad Danish Mohd Faizal, who fell into a drain during heavy rain.

Mohd Arif Zulkifli, 35 and his 32-year-old wife Nur Hidayah Yahya made the discovery at 9.20am on Sunday (Nov 26) at Taman Desa Baru, which is about 1.3km away from the site where the boy fell.

Mohd Arif said he and his wife decided to help locate Muhammad Danish after reading the news that he had fallen into a drain during heavy rain at Taman Goodwood, Bukit Palah, on Saturday(Nov 25).

It was reported that Muhammad Danish had fallen into the drain while playing with his four-year-old brother when accompanying their mother to her "nasi kerabu" stall.

The couple from Permatang Duyong left their home at 8.40am on Sunday to help with the search before finding the body minutes later.

Mohd Arif said issues involving children are close to his heart and his wife.

"We have been married for some time now, and we still hope to have our own kids," he said.

Melaka Fire and Rescue Department's Zone One officer Superintendent Zulkhairani Ramli, said no injuries were sighted on the victim's body.

He said the body was surrendered to police for further action.
