Deepavali highlights Malaysia's multiculturalism, says Transport Minister

PETALING JAYA: The celebration of Deepavali highlights Malaysia’s multiculturalism, says Transport Minister Anthony Loke.

Loke said that united by the celebration of Deepavali, Malaysians of all backgrounds can experience the rich diversity that the nation has to offer.

"Deepavali is a testament to Malaysia's vibrant multiculturalism—a treasure that defines our national identity.

"The diversity of celebrations across the nation underscores the unity in our differences. It showcases the strength we derive from our varied traditions and backgrounds," he said in a Facebook post on Saturday (Nov 11).

Loke took this opportunity to remind people of the importance of safety, especially during holiday travels back to their hometowns.

He said that people should be vigilant on the road so that the highways are channels of joy and not a path to accidents.

"We urge every Malaysian to exercise caution during this festive season. Let us ensure that our roads remain free from the shadows of mishaps, adding to the joy of the celebration," he said.
