Senior citizen falls during monkey attack in George Town, needs nine stitches

GEORGE TOWN: A senior citizen sustained a head wound after she fell during a monkey attack at City Park here.

The victim was taking part in an aerobics session during the 7am incident on Saturday (Nov 4) morning, a Penang Island City Council spokesman said.

It is believed that the woman, in her 60s, had food and drinks in her bag that could have drawn the monkey to her.

"The victim was startled and tried to get away but ended up falling.

"Her head hit the road divider, resulting in the injury," the spokesman added.

He said the victim was given first aid by medical personnel at the scene before being sent to Hospital Penang for further treatment.

It is learnt that her head wound needed nine stitches.
