Three injured in collision involving car and express bus


KOTA KINABALU: Three people were seriously injured after the vehicle they were travelling in crashed into an express bus in the Ranau district.

The victims, identified as Marlin Markos (age unverified), Achar Shandrson (7) and Ashley (8), were in a car during the 11am mishap on Friday (Nov 3).

Sabah Fire and Rescue Department assistant director of operations, Hamsa Isnurdini, said they received a distress call at 11.29am.

“The accident happened in front of SK Nalapak, and it involved a car and an express bus carrying 43 people, including the driver,” he said.

He said the three victims in the small car had already been taken to the Ranau Hospital for treatment when firemen arrived at the scene.

Hamsa said all passengers on board the bus and its driver were unharmed.

“Operations ceased at 12.10pm after all hazardous elements were eliminated,” he said.
