Kemaman by-election: Ahmad Said appointed Barisan's election machinery director

KUALA LUMPUR; Terengganu Umno state liaison committee chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Said has been appointed Barisan Nasional's machinery election director for the Kemaman by-election, says Datuk Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki.

The Umno secretary-general said the decision to appoint Ahmad Said was agreed on by the Umno supreme council in its meeting on Friday (Oct 20).

When asked ifd they had decided on a candidate, Asyraf Wajdi said it would be announced at a later date.

"The director was appointed first. Nothing further was discussed," he told a press conference after the supreme council meeting on Friday.

On Sept 26, the Terengganu Election Court nullified the GE15 result for the Kemaman parliamentary seat, won by PAS' Che Alias Hamid, ruling that there were elements of inducement of voters during the campaigning period.
