Bag thief nabbed, thanks to CCTV footage

KUALA LUMPUR: Police solved a robbery within 48 hours after CCTV footage caught the culprit in the act.

Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Azam Ismail said in a statement Thursday (Oct 19) that the victim, a bridal make-up artist's assistant, lost his bags on Monday (Oct 16) after placing them at a bridal boutique in a shopping mall.

The stolen items were valued at around RM2,000.

CCTV footage showed a man taking the bags from the boutique.

On Wednesday (Oct 18) police tracked down and arrested the 26-year-old suspect in Desa Lembah Permai Ampang.

"Also seized were the victim's bags, clothes, two car remotes and a set of car keys we believe belonged to the complainant," ACP Mohd Azam said.

The suspect tested positive for drugs and has been remanded until Sunday (Oct 22), he added.
