Supply Bill 2024 tabled for reading

THE Supply Bill 2024 has been tabled for the first reading in the Dewan Rakyat ahead of Budget 2024.

The Bill for the government’s spending plan for 2024 was tabled by Deputy Finance Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Haji Maslan (pic).

“The second reading, which is Budget 2024, is scheduled this Friday at 4pm,” he told the Dewan Rakyat yesterday.

Earlier in February, Anwar, who is also Finance Minister, re-tabled a modified version of Budget 2023 which was tabled by the previous administration in October last year before the dissolution of Parliament.

The 14th Parliament was dissolved before Budget 2023, which was initially tabled by former prime minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob’s government, was passed.

The Supply Bill was later re-tabled by Anwar with slight tweaks on Feb 24. On that note, Budget 2024 will be an entirely new fiscal plan conceived under Anwar’s Madani concept.

The Prime Minister had said that two key sectors – education and health – would continue to receive the bulk of the allocations under Budget 2024.
