KLANG: Smart Selangor Delivery Unit (SSDU Innovations Sdn Bhd) has signed a memorandum of collaboration with EER Digital Sdn Bhd to look into a pilot for a sustainable data centre in Selangor.
The agreement was made at the AIBP Conference & Exhibition Malaysia 2026 held at W Hotel here on Wednesday (July 8).
The project will check whether the idea is possible and what technical, environmental and governance rules are needed for an artificial intelligence-ready, high-density computing system.
"The collaboration is a deliberate first step for Selangor to study how high density AI infrastructure can be developed responsibly with sustainability, governance and public value built into the design from the beginning," said SSDU chief executive officer Gaddafi Musli.

He explained that the role of SSDU was to coordinate, evaluate and convene the right stakeholders so that Selangor can make informed decisions accordingly.
The study will also focus on energy use, water impact, space needs, safety, operations, cybersecurity and public-sector uses.
A joint technical team will make an action plan, including the scope of the pilot, technical checks and how to measure sustainability.
SSDU also stressed in a statement that this was only an exploratory study and not a decision to build or buy systems. Any future work will need more studies, approvals and proper governance.
The collaboration supports the goal of Selangor to grow its digital and AI capabilities in a sustainable and coordinated way.
SSDU Innovations Sdn Bhd, known as Smart Selangor Delivery Unit, is a wholly owned subsidiary of Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated).
