Investigation papers on Ebit Lew rape allegation, counterclaim, sent to AG, says Bukit Aman

KUALA LUMPUR: The two investigation papers involving celebrity preacher Ebit Lew have been referred to the Attorney General's Chambers, says Comm Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain.

The Bukit Aman CID director said the investigation papers (IP) were based on an Indonesian social media influencer’s claims of inappropriate behaviour by Ebit Lew and the preacher's counter-report denying the claims.

"Both IPs have been referred to the AGC last week for a decision on further action to be taken.

"I cannot comment further as Ebit Lew is also facing an ongoing court case in Sabah," he told a press conference in Bukit Aman on Wednesday (Oct 11).

It was reported that Bukit Aman CID was investigating both cases concurrently.

The social media influencer's allegation is investigated under Section 376 of the Penal Code for rape, while Lew's police report is under Section 233 of the Communication and Multimedia Act as well as Section 500 of the Penal Code for defamation.

More than a dozen witnesses have been called up to date.

Recently, an Indonesian social media influencer alleged that Lew had behaved inappropriately with her.

Lew had earlier provided the Indonesian influencer with financial assistance in June.
