KUALA LUMPUR: The Magistrate’s Court here fined a Universiti Malaya student RM5,000 for intentionally insulting a former vice-chancellor with intent to provoke a breach of the peace at the university’s 59th convocation four years ago. Magistrate Illi Marisqa Khalizan meted out the fine to Wong Yan Ke (pic), 27, after finding that the defence had failed to raise reasonable doubts against the prosecution’s case at the end of the defence case.
“The action by the accused (Wong) to justify his actions does not break the prosecution’s case because the elements under Section 504 of the Penal Code have been proven,” said the magistrate yesterday, Bernama reported.
