PETALING JAYA: Two premises, including a mamak eatery located in front of Sekolah Kebangsaan Ampang, were destroyed in a fire early Saturday (Aug 29).
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director of operations Ashrul Riezal Ashbar said the department received an emergency call at 3.46am.
He said a fire engine from the Ampang Fire and Rescue Station arrived at the scene three minutes later.
“The operation commander reported that the fire involved two premises belonging to different owners: a mamak eatery and a general storage unit.
"The mamak eatery and storage unit were each about 80% damaged by the fire," he said in a statement on Saturday (Aug 29).
Ashrul said the fire was brought under control at 4.42am and completely extinguished before the operation ended at 8.30am.
He said firefighters used six 200-foot hose lines with five nozzles, drawing water from fire hydrants and water tanks.
"The operation was assisted by personnel from the Pandan Indah, Keramat and Hang Tuah fire and rescue stations, as well as the Bandar Mahkota Cheras Volunteer Fire Brigade.
"A total of 18 personnel and several fire engines were deployed to the scene. There were no casualties," he said.
