Cops arrest seven in Johor during latest Ops Dadu Khas inspections


JOHOR BARU: Police here have arrested seven individuals in the anti-online gambling and illegal lottery Ops Dadu Khas while inspecting seven premises in the state.

Johor police chief Comm Datuk Kamarul Zaman Mamat said the latest arrests were made on Monday (Oct 2).

"The arrested are six local men and a foreign woman, all aged between 22 and 60. Police also seized six mobile phones, five mobile printers, and cash amounting to RM655 in the operation," he said in a statement on Tuesday (Oct 3).

Comm Kamarul Zaman added that since the start of the operation, a total of 226 premises have been checked and 256 people have been arrested.

"All of the arrested are aged between 18 and 66 and consist of 209 men and 47 women," he said, adding that the case was being investigated under Sections 4A(a) and 4B(a) of the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953.

The premises would have their licences cancelled by the local authority and their electricity cut by Tenaga Nasional Bhd, he added and said that the police had also confiscated 267 mobile phones, 102 mobile printers, and cash worth RM48,350.

Comm Kamarul Zaman urged those with information on gambling and other criminal activities to contact the state police hotline at 07-221 2999.
