No need to add Pakatan reps in Johor exco, says Skudai rep

JOHOR BARU: The Johor executive councillor line-up, which comprises all Barisan Nasional members, need not be changed despite calls for the formation of a unity state government, says a DAP assemblyman.

Skudai assemblyman Marina Ibrahim said Mentri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi has been cooperating well with Pakatan Harapan even before the unity government was formed at the federal level.

“There is no need to discuss changing the current line-up of 10 councillors at the moment.

“The Barisan-led government has been working closely with all other elected representatives.

“This is my personal opinion, any decision still lies with the Mentri Besar,” she said, in response to a suggestion from Johor Amanah chief Aminolhuda Hassan for Pakatan representatives to be included in the exco.

Aminolhuda made the statement in view that the Pakatan-Barisan collaboration at the Federal level should be reflected in the state government to show the spirit of the unity government.

He asked for three Pakatan representatives to be appointed to the exco line up.

His view was supported by Johor DAP vice-chairman Teo Nie Ching.

In the 2022 Johor state election, Barisan captured 40 seats, followed by Pakatan with 13 and Perikatan Nasional won three seats.
