KUALA LUMPUR: Solicitor-General II Datuk Almalena Sharmila Johan is appointed the new Solicitor-General effective Oct 2.

Attorney-General (AG) Datuk Ahmad Terrirudin Mohd Salleh said Datuk Suzana Atan had been appointed as Solicitor-General II, replacing Almalena, also effective Oct 2.

"The appointments align with the Directive on the Transfer of Legal Officers No 107 and 108/2023. All members of the Attorney-General's Chambers congratulate this appointment,” he said in a statement on Wednesday (Sept 20).

Almalena, previously Head of the Advisory Division of the Attorney-General’s Department, was appointed Solicitor-General to replace Ahmad Terrirudin, who officially began his duties as Attorney-General on Sept 6.

Before this, Almalena, who represented the Attorney-General's Department, joined the minister in the Prime Minister's Office (Law and Institutional Reform) Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said and Malaysia’s ambassador to Spain, Datuk Akmal Che Mustafa, on a trip to Madrid, Spain to handle the Sulu claimants’ dispute.

Suzana, meanwhile, was the Senior Federal Counsel who handled civil cases and election petitions. Bernama
